    How to Treat Chest Wrinkles

While the thin skin of the face is often the first place to show wrinkles, unfortunately, it is not always the last. The skin of the chest can experience deep wrinkling that makes wearing a button-down shirt or décolleté-bearing dress a cosmetic concern. Like facial wrinkles, chest wrinkling can occur due to the breakdown of collagen and elastic fibers, sun exposure and repeated wrinkling, which can be due to sleeping on your chest or side. Treatments are available to reduce your chest wrinkling.

    Step 1

Apply a topical wrinkle treatment cream to the chest daily. Wrinkle-fighting ingredients include retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, kinetin or copper peptides, according to MayoClinic.com. These ingredients are available over-the-counter. However, prescription wrinkle treatment creams are available that contain stronger concentrations of wrinkle-fighting ingredients.

    Step 2

Change your sleeping position by sleeping on your back. Sleeping on the stomach and side can cause your skin to fold, creating wrinkling. While it can take some time to adjust to a different sleeping position, attaching a tennis ball to the front of your night clothing can prevent you from rolling to your stomach.

    Step 3

Drink plenty of water to keep the skin moisturized and in good condition. Water keeps the skin plump and temporarily reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

    Step 4

Undergo a chemical peel to remove dead and wrinkled skin cells. Chemical peels involve the application of skin-peeling chemicals to remove dead skin cells and encourage the growth of new skin cells. Talk to your physician or aesthetician about the best chemical peel type for your skin.

    Step 5

Undergo a laser treatment to remove the outer layer of skin and stimulate collagen growth in the dermis, the layer of skin underneath the outermost layer of skin. Advances in skin treatment mean recovery following laser treatment can be minimal. Laser treatments may require several follow-up sessions in order to prove effective.

    Tip

Apply a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 15 or higher to your chest and neck daily in order to protect your skin against further chest wrinkling. Even when your skin is not exposed, the sun's rays can penetrate some clothing making constant protection necessary to prevent sun-related wrinkling. Dark spots known as age spots can accompany chest wrinkling. To treat this condition, apply a hydroquinone-containing cream. Hydroquinone blocks the production of brown pigments in your body, reducing the appearance of age spots. Prescription hydroquinone creams
