Calories in a Cup of Honey
Honey is more than just the byproduct of bees; it's also known as a natural sweetener that is good for a variety of uses. Honey is not, however, calorie-free. These calories truly add up in larger quantities, so you may want to consider other sweetening options if calories are a concern.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, a typical serving size for honey is 1 tablespoon. The USDA National Nutrient Database lists that 1 cup of honey has 1,031 calories.
Calories from Fat
While honey is not a calorie-free food, it is a fat-free food. If you are on a low-fat diet, know that you will not add any calories from fat when you eat honey.
Calories from Carbohydrates
As honey is a natural sweetener, virtually all of its calories come from carbohydrates. The USDA reports that there are more than 279 g of carbs in 1 cup of honey, with less than one of these grams being from fiber. Each gram of carbohydrates counts for 4 calories.
