Which Nuts Are Allowed on the Candida Diet?
The Candida diet aims to control the overgrowth of Candida albicans, a pathogen that in excess can cause uncomfortable symptoms such as headache, brain fog, joint pain and digestive problems, according to the Candida Diet website. A low-sugar nutrition plan, along with the use of probiotics and antifungals, is prescribed by the diet. Although nuts are naturally low in sugar, some can harbor mold, which can weaken the immune system and worsen your condition.

You have quite a few choices of nuts to eat on the Candida diet, including almonds, walnuts, pecans and hazelnuts, which the Candida Diet website reports are healthy and have a low mold content. Nuts with a high mold content that should be avoided include peanuts, pistachios and cashews.
Tips and Tricks
You can further reduce the mold content of allowed nuts by soaking them for a few hours in a solution of grapefruit seed extract mixed with water, the Candida Diet website suggests. Since wheat and wheat flour should be avoided on the Candida diet, try substituting almond flour when making your favorite baked goods.
