How to Make a Basketball Backboard?
Whether you just don't have the cash for a store-bought fiberglass backboard or you simply like to make your own stuff, a homemade basketball backboard may be a good option for you. By following a few simple steps, you should be able to create a backboard with little difficulty, and at just a fraction of the cost of a manufactured backboard.
Step 1
Use a saw cutter to cut the hardwood so that it measures 72 inches in width. Use a ruler and a pencil to mark out a straight line before going ahead with the saw.
Step 2
Use the saw cutter to similarly cut the hardwood so that it measures 42 inches in height. Again, use a ruler and pencil to mark the wood with a straight line before cutting.
Step 3
Use a pencil and ruler to mark a 2-inch thick rectangle in the middle of the backboard, measuring 24 inches wide and 18 inches high. The bottom line of this rectangle should be positioned exactly 6 inches from the base of the backboard.
Step 4
Use a pencil ruler to draw a rectangle exactly 2 inches from the edge of your backboard on all sides.
Step 5
Paint these two rectangles (from Steps 4 and 5) with weather-proof paint.
